Camp Dog Trouble: Boarding camp for the rehabilitation of dog behavior problems by trusted Dog Whisperer Jason Miller

The main focus of this program is to have a professional dog behaviorist and his pack rehabilitate your dog, and then teach you how to maintain the high level of training.

While many serious dog behavior problems may require this board and rehab program, it is most often used by dogs who have shown serious aggression. The Camp Dog Trouble program removes the problem dog from the home for rehabilitation in a rewarding, dog friendly environment. Often with serious aggression cases, the dog does not recognize the owner as pack leader so correction of these behaviors at home often leads to the owners being bitten. This is where a board and rehab program comes into play.

• Camp Dog Trouble (CDT) is a straight forward behavioral modification approach to rehabilitating  dogs. We rehabilitate dogs and train their owners to make sure their pack leadership skills are up to par.


• Your dog will be rehabilitated in a home setting by dog behaviorist Jason Miller at his Dog Psychology Center. Your dog will receive personal attention just as if he/she were one of Jason’s own pack in need of rehab.


• Your dog will be put on a customized training program based on the level of aggression. Dogs go through a highly active exercise program while at CDT: Long walks with other balanced pack members, Rollerblading for those capable, etc


• You will be taught to maintain the high level of discipline and training your dog has become accustomed to at CDT.


• There are five main obedience commands you dog will learn while at CDT: sit, down, stay, come and heel
  


• Our main focus is to teach your dog to become a calm, submissive, well balanced animal that is not a threat to family, friends and other pets and is easy to control.


• Dogs that are “dog aggressive” will be trained with and around a variety of dogs. Members of Jason’s own “calm stable pack” will help your dog learn how to be part of a balanced pack. Isolating dogs from other members of its species only causes it to forget to be part of a social pack as nature intended.


• Your dog will be taught to maintain a focused level of thinking rather than just reacting to each situation. This helps him/her pay more attention to you even during distractions.


• The length of this program is generally a month, but some cases may require longer stays of 6-8 weeks for further owner/dog training. There is no additional cost if the program extends up to 8 weeks.


• 
  Feeding: You dog will be fed the dry food he/she is used to eating. You must provide a large bag of your preferred food upon arrival.


• 
  Medications: Your dog can be provided medications at no extra charge… but you must provide the medications.


• 
  Lesson to go on: You will receive one final lesson before going home with your dog.


• 
  Follow up lessons for life: Each owner will be entitled to follow up support and lessons for the life of the dog.

Consistent training/rehabilitation is of the utmost importance to your dog’s success. Since repetition forms the habits we seek, good habits and behaviors are reinforced daily, and then transferred to your home. Our training environment is friendly and not overbearing or threatening to dogs in anyway. Rehab must be fun in order for your dog to succeed.

• Busy professionals who don’t have the time at home to effectively rehabilitate their own dogs, but can maintain the training once he/she returns home.


• Clients whose cases merit more intensive rehabilitation or time with Jasons Pack.


• Aggression cases where the client has been bitten or become afraid.


• Extreme fear and phobia rehabilitation often works best here at the center due the time and patience required for these cases.
