My name is Christina (Taddei) Rossetti, and I have been training dogs professionally here in MA since 1998. I am a certified dog trainer, a professional member of the International Association of Canine Professionals, the National Association of Police Working Dogs, and am an AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator.
I started Alpha Dog K9 Training in March of 2003 to bring quality dog training to people in their homes. I had been working in the training field and noticed that my customers were telling me that their dog was great at the training facility, but less than perfect at home.
I believe that things you teach your dog should have a practical application for his life and yours, like waiting when a door is opened~even the car door~or being able to pay attention to you and you alone on a crowded or noisy street or in an unfamiliar place. These easily taught basic behaviors are the difference between a dog that is a joy and a dog that is a constant worry to his or her people.
I noticed that customers with small children had a difficult time getting child care, loading and unloading strollers and dogs, and had time constraints during nap times or sheduling around kids schedules. Having children and several dogs of my own, I sympathized. Several of my potential clients were âsecond shiftersâ or people who just werenât available for mid-week daytime/evening classes. All of these situations gave rise to our motto, âin your home, at your convenience.â
At Alpha Dog, we will schedule your training at a time thatâs convenient for you. We will evaluate your dog during our first class to determine what training method will work best for you and your dog. We employ all methods of training, from clickers and toys to martingales and slip collars to prong collars and e-collars, combining methods to facilitate the learning process. Our goal is to get your dog to want to work for you. If training isnât fun, neither of you will want to do it!
At our first meeting a learning plan is formulated by the trainer and the customer, combining basic obedience skills with your goals (i.e.: no jumping, nipping, accidents in the house, etc.). In other words, practical applications to obedience training. We feel that building the new skills that you both will learn into your dogâs life is the very best way to practice no matter what your dogâs age, and your trainer will assist you in thinking up new and creative ways to break old habits and form new ones.
We offer a wide variety of training programs, from group and individual puppy kindergarten classes to basic and advanced obedience, group classes at all levels, and AKC Canine Good Citizen Certifications whenever youâre ready.
Classes are available in your home or at our facility in Medway, MA.
