Want to learn to train a rat?

As some of you know, I’ll be graduating later this month and am currently in the process of setting up my own animal training and consulting business, Texas Animal Training. I’ll be providing training lessons and classes, as well as behavior consultation services, to pets and their owners in the Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas area. Although most of the training I do is with dogs and horses, I will also be offering some rat training classes this fall!

I will be teaching several animal training classes for children and teens this fall at Dog City Training Center, a dog training facility in the Dallas area. I think these classes are going to be so much fun for the children and I think that I’m also going to have a lot of fun teaching them!

The classes will introduce children to some of the basics of animal training, including positive reinforcement, clicker training, and shaping. Basic concepts will be taught through interactive activities and games, and then the kids will get to apply their new knowledge by training fun behaviors and tricks to my pet rats. In the picture to the right, Madeleine is giving Amy a treat for putting two feet on the jump.

These classes will be a great opportunity for children to learn all about animal behavior and the science of animal training. So, if you know children in the Dallas area who love animals and who would have lots of fun learning about clicker training and positive animal training, please let them know about these classes. You can check out this page on my business website for more information about the youth animal training classes I will be teaching. Or, you can click here to download the awesome flyer for the classes.
